October Therapeutic Programs at the Longview Recreation Center

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a variety of therapeutic recreation programs in October at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive in Spring Hill. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop leisure and social skills for participation in community activities. Some programs require pre-registration and space may be limited. FITNESS FUN
Come join the fun every Wednesday afternoon in October to participate in activities that help improve cardiovascular abilities, increase flexibility and strengthen muscles. This is a therapeutic recreation program designed for teens and adults who are independent in their personal care and can follow directions within a small group. Fitness Fun will meet on October 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th from 4:00pm to 4:45pm. The cost is $10 total for 5 sessions. No refunds are available for any missed sessions. Register by calling the Longview Recreation Center at (615)302-0971, ext. 10  between September 1st  and 29th.
 
JUST FOR YOUTH –TRICK OR TREAT!
Youth ages 8 to 13 are invited to a fun afternoon making Halloween Rice Krispies treats on Tuesday, October 21st from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Longview Recreation Center. Enjoy creating all kinds of spooky shapes and adding special ingredients to this classic treat! Then enjoy a cool drink along with the homemade spooky treats. Just for Youth is a PALS (People at Leisure with Support) therapeutic recreation program, and caregivers are required to stay with those needing support. The cost is $2 per person. Caregivers wishing to eat are required to pay the program fee. Call the Longview Recreation Center at (615)302-0971, ext. 10 to register between September 29th and October 17th.
 
POTLUCK AND BINGO
Come and enjoy a spooktacular evening of fun, food and bingo on Tuesday, October 14th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Prizes will be awarded for the best male and best female costumes! Meat, drinks and bingo prizes will be provided. Participants are asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share. This PALS (People at Leisure with Support) therapeutic recreation program is for teens and adults. A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers are asked to register if planning to attend and eat. To register, call the Longview Recreation Center at (615)302-0971, ext. 10 between September18th and October 10th. This is a FREE event. Bingo and prizes are for participants only.
 
GAMES GALORE
Get ready for a howlin’ good time playing Halloween Pictionary on Thursday, October 16th,  from 4:00pm to 5:30pm! Participants will draw pictures as others try to guess the spooky Halloween objects. After the games conclude, everyone will enjoy pizza, chips and a drink. This is a PALS program (People at Leisure with Support). For teens and adults. A caregiver is required to stay with those needing support. Caregivers are asked to register if planning to attend and eat. The cost is $5 per person.
