“Moozie” Kindness Essay/Art Contest Open for K-3!

“MOOZIE” ART and ESSAY CONTEST FOR KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADERS OPEN UNTIL APRIL 12, 2024 TO PROMOTE KINDNESS, SPONSORED BY NONPROFIT CHILDREN’S KINDNESS NETWORK

Children’s Kindness Network (CKN) is celebrating kindness by hosting the 2024 annual Moozie Kindness Essay and Art Contest for children in kindergarten through third grade. The art track, after last year’s successful debut, is open to children in kindergarten and first grade; the essay contest applies to second and third graders. Entry is free.

Contest rules, prize information, and submission form are available on Moozie.org site at Programs & Events, within Resources. For direct access, go to: https://www.moozie.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/CKN-24-Essay_Art-Contest-Packet-1.pdf. Contact for questions: contest@moozie.com

The prompt for essay submissions is: “Describe how you or someone else have been or will/could be kind to the Earth, one of Moozie’s four pillars of kindness.” Art entries should illustrate responses to: “What does kindness mean to you?” CKN sponsors the contest to promote literacy, creative arts, kindness values and related social/emotional skills. CKN expects strong participation by students from the nonprofit organization’s immediate area, Greater Nashville, as well as entrants from across the U.S.A. and other countries. Last year’s winners were from Tennessee and Kenya. Vic Legerton, CKN President and Chief Executive Officer, notes that contest participation “is a fantastic opportunity for young children to be creative, practice writing, highlight ways to take care of our Earth, and think about spreading kindness, which we all value. Students can engage in this fun activity before or during spring break.” Vic and team anticipate that contest participants will turn to “Moozie,” the kind cow, for inspiration.

CKN’s Moozie the cow is the kindness ambassador who comes with evidence-based lessons, songs, and stories. “Children listen to her messages of kindness,” says Founder and 2024 Franklin Tommorow Exemplary Community Volunteer Award-winner Ted Dreier. “Moozie encourages kindness to yourself, to others, to animals, and to Earth. Moozie’s inspirations are available at www.moozie.org; on Instagram @moozieckn and @moozie.the.cow; Facebook and X @moozieckn; and through Moozie’s Kind Messages podcast available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. CKN welcomes requests from schools, pre-schools, libraries, and hospitals for Moozie’s visit to read, conduct kindness interactions, and spread cheer.

Children’s Kindness Network is a 501c(3) nonprofit dedicated to instilling the values of kindness among young children through Moozie the Cow in various learning environments, and spreading joy to children through Moozie.
