Catch a Ride

Franklin Transit Authority is providing $1 rides to the Main Street Festival this weekend from two convenient park-and-ride locations at Liberty Elementary and Franklin High School. Shuttle service coincides with the hours of the free festival, which are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday (with arts/crafts booths closing at 7 p.m.) and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Transit service will operate on a continuous loop from Franklin High School’s parking lot on Hillsboro Road to Liberty Elementary on Liberty Pike. Riders will be dropped off at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Bridge Street. The festival is on five blocks of Main Street (from 1st to 5th Avenues) with an additional carnival at the Bicentennial Park location at N. Margin St. and 1st Ave. N.

Both parking garages at 4th Ave. S. and 2nd Ave. S. will be open and offer free parking throughout the event, but sometimes fill up with festival-goers. They will be monitored throughout the weekend with signs indicating when they are full.

Pinkerton Park on Murfreesboro Road is also a good option, using the Sue Berry pedestrian bridge to access the festival from 2nd Ave. S. There is also a lot of on-street parking around the festival.

Shuttle service is being provided to help mitigate traffic congestion and reduce emissions. In another effort to make the festival easier on the environment, all drinks sold at the event will be in 20-ounce plastic bottles which are recycled.  Please look for the appropriate container to dispose of your 20-ounce bottle at the event. They are located throughout the festival and are placed next to the roll-away trash containers.

The Franklin Main Street Festival is expected to attract 130,000 to historic downtown Franklin on this beautiful weekend, April 25-26. Activities include 220 arts/crafts booths, three stages, two carnivals, a beer/wine garden and international food court. For a complete schedule of events, go to www.historicfranklin.com.
