Free Admission to the Williamson County Fair with canned goods donation to GraceWorks

Enjoy a fun night and feed the hungry by bringing canned goods Aug. 7 to the Williamson County Fair.

The fair is hosting its annual food collection benefiting the GraceWorks Food Pantry. Free admission will be provided to all who bring four cans of food per person.

GraceWorks has set an unprecedented goal of raising 15,000 pounds of food. Feeding America’s standard of one meal equaling 1.2 pounds means this goal would bring in enough food for 12,500 meals.

The high goal was set to help GraceWorks’ Food Pantry to meet ever-increasing requests for food. In the fiscal year 2023 (ending June 30), the pantry distributed an average 42 shopping carts full of food per day, a 17% increase over fiscal year 2022, which had a whopping 44% increase over fiscal year 2021. Fiscal year 2023 finished with the distribution of 950,553 pounds of food, enough for 792,127 meals.

GraceWorks was founded in 1995 as a Christ-centered nonprofit community center offering food, shelter and support to fulfill its mission of Neighbor serving Neighbor, by the power of God’s grace. In addition to food, GraceWorks offers rent and utility assistance, newborn supplies, Christmas gifts, Thrift Store vouchers and more, as well as a referral system for services GraceWorks does not provide
