Places to Propose in Williamson County

Tennessee is a gorgeous place to call home, and our county is no exception, with beautiful views from corner to corner. When considering where to pop the question, it’s important to keep in mind time of day, weather, and the amount of privacy you and your future spouse might prefer. If you’re at a loss of where might be the perfect place to get down on one knee, here are some lovely local spots that could do the trick.

Arrington Vineyards is a must-visit destination in Franklin. The heart of Middle Tennessee wine country, the vineyard is no stranger to  romance, with rolling hills and breathtaking sunsets. While there are various wine tasting experiences and bites available, guests are also welcome to bring their own picnics, excluding alcoholic beverages, to pair with Arrington’s incredible wine. An added bonus: every weekend from April to November they host live music through their Music In The Vines Series. If a Tennessee evening spent sipping local wine in a beautiful setting sounds pretty close to perfect, Arrington Vineyards could be the ideal place for you.

Bowie Nature Park is the gem of Fairview, and for good reason. The impressive 700 acres of protected land showcases the exquisite natural beauty of Middle Tennessee, with no less than 6 ecosystems within the borders of the park alone. With 17 miles of hiking trails (with plenty of space for hiking, running, cycling, and even horseback riding) and 5 lakes scattered throughout the property, there are several beautiful places to propose. Especially for couples who are fans of the outdoors, or are looking for a bit more privacy, Bowie Nature Park is certainly worth considering.

Downtown Franklin is known for being the poster child for Southern charm. Rich with Tennessee history, small town hospitality, and quaint beauty, there is no question as to why our historic city is often compared to Hallmark. Complete with a lovely town square, historic churches, the gorgeous Franklin Theater, and several places to shop and dine, downtown is the perfect place to celebrate timeless love. There are a multitude of places to ask the question and plenty of spots that family, friends, or photographers can gather undetected. Especially if you call Franklin home, a sweet and simple downtown proposal might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Harlinsdale Farm is another scenic destination in Franklin, with a storied history and a lovely view. Known to be one of the most beautiful public spaces locally, the farm is a centerpiece of Franklin’s landscape and agricultural history, particularly when it comes to equestrian sports. With 200 acres of rolling farmland, the space is regularly utilized for local events, the most widely known being Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival. The Park at Harlinsdale Farm includes walking and hiking trails that run along the edge of the park and along the Harpeth River. If you’re looking for a serene proposal spot that is Franklin through-and-through, Harlinsdale Farm is it.

Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary is a 300-acre nature oasis in Brentwood, which protects over 200 species of local wildlife. The park is a perfect place to experience the beauty of Tennessee meadows, hills, forests, ponds, and creeks. During peak season, the sanctuary is also a great place to witness vibrant wildflowers. Although this space might be ideal for some couples, do keep in mind that because of the sanctuary’s primary goal of preservation, public access is limited and day passes must be purchased. Likewise, if you plan to have a photographer capture the moment, keep in mind that obtaining a permit is necessary.

Peacock Hill Nature Park in College Grove is home to one of the highest points of elevation in Williamson County, making it perfect if you’re looking for a proposal with a view. The tranquil park is a testament to our county’s dedication to wildlife preservation, an effort that has protected the integrity and beauty of our land. The park has 6 walking trails that span about 5 miles. Along the trails you will find 2 ponds, 3 hilltops, several observation areas, and a chapel. If you’re looking for the tallest point in the park, the hike to Hogg Hill is 2 miles in length.

Timberland Park is located at Mile Marker 437.2 on Franklin’s Historic Natchez Trace Parkway. The park and the parkway where it resides is known for showing off the beautiful, rustic landscape of Middle Tennessee. During the spring, native wildflowers are abundant at Timberland Park, along their trails and in their butterfly garden. If wildflowers are what you’re after when it comes to proposal spots, the season typically starts at the beginning of March and peaks in mid-to-late-April.

& More

If you have your heart set on a Music City engagement, some fabulous destinations just across county lines include Cheekwood Estates & Gardens, Centennial Park (home of the Parthenon), Radnor Lake, or the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, located near downtown Broadway. Nashville is also home to a plethora of rooftops that could serve as picturesque places to propose while gazing over the skyline or the sunset.

If you and the love of your life are outdoorsy people through-and-through, consider asking them to marry you at one of the breathtaking waterfalls located within 3 hours of Franklin or on a romantic camping trip at one of the cozy destinations in and near Williamson County.

If you’re both music lovers, and are fans of a little pizazz, consider asking them to marry you at a concert, or one of the incredible music festivals that come to our area every year. Proposing during a shared favorite song is a classic move, and one that is certainly Music City approved.
