Legislative bodies of the City of Franklin and Williamson County have approved the swapping of properties between the two (2) entities, allowing the City of Franklin to obtain ownership of some downtown Franklin properties and Williamson County to acquire the "old springs property" in the Bending Chestnut area of Williamson County.  Upon completion of the property survey, the two entities expect to execute the agreements after the first of the year.

Williamson County recently hosted a Regional Three Star meeting for the mid-state area of elected officials, economic development leaders and chambers of commerce leaders.  Information was received and reviewed regarding 2007 requirements for continuation of Three Star accreditation, through the State Department of Economic & Community Development.  Williamson County was awarded Three Star status in 2005, demonstrating a cooperative county-wide partnership of all governmental entities in achieving this status.  Being a Three Star county allows governments to save local tax dollars typically required as match money for various grants.

John Whisenant, Executive Director of the Convention & Visitors Bureau and Commissioner Judy Hayes, Chair of the Tourism Committee recently recruited 26 leaders from the community to serve on a Tourism Task Force, whose mission is to have the best tourism development program in the state of Tennessee.
