Enjoue: big-city fashion

By Sarah Carlos

I remember the first time I saw Enjoue. I was walking back to my car after meeting a friend for lunch at Puckett’s, and bam! There it was. I was seduced by the vibe of the outside of the building before I even got a chance to go inside. Maybe it was the energy of the smiling faces of the women with full shopping bags leaving the store. Or it could have been the black and white awning or the pink round sign – I don’t know. But something struck me about the classiness of it. The connection of big city style with the familiarity and security of a small town, maybe? Yes, that was exactly it. I love the architecture of Franklin. The people. The sense of community. Friendship. When I drive through town after being in the hustle and bustle of Nashville, I feel as though a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. Enjoue specifically gives me that feeling about fashion, and all I can say is that I am hooked.

enjoueEnjoue carries fashions of some nationally renowned designers, namely Betsy Johnson and my personal favorite, Prophetik, by local sensation, Jeff Garner. Not only are the clothes affordable (we aren’t talking TJ Maxx prices, but quality and service far surpasses that of the Maxx), but I don’t think I can remember the last time I EVER heard of a boutique staying open past 5 p.m. on a weekday. It is nice to know that after a hard day at work, you can head on over to Enjoue and shop for an hour or so before it closes. Heck, they are even open until 9 p.m. on the weekends, and you don’t even have to deal with the hassle of mall service, traffic, etc.

Tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, jewelry (and even though I never perused the jeans, I hear they carry killer denim by Red Engine), Enjoue has got you covered. Always be choosy about what you purchase, and please remember my 15-second rule (no, this is not like the five-second rule we are all oh so fond of) – if it takes you more than 15 seconds to decide if you really want something, take a deep breath, hang up the garment and slowly back away. You will be doing yourself a favor in the long run. Only have a closet filled with pieces you enjoy looking at on the hanger and on your body, not ones that make you want to bang your head against the wall and scream, “What was I thinking?” You will be able to find some classic staples at Enjoue in different colors and prints that can give your wardrobe more depth than you had before. Enjoy mixing and matching and let the staff at Enjoue help you. They really understand the importance of fashion – heck, it’s what they specialize in, so they will not lead you down the wrong path. They can assist you in your decision-making process or leave you to decide on your own – whatever you prefer. Take advantage of all this local treasure has to offer – you won’t be disappointed.

Please note, after this story was published Enjoue has taken on the new name of The Open Window and is now located upstairs in the Franklin Marketplace on 3rd Avenue North, Franklin, TN. They are open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Their phone number is (615) 599-8177.
