CULINARY ARTS FOR EVERYDAY COOKS
Joan Wherley, extension agent for the University of Tennessee offers a four-part cooking school called “Culinary Arts for the Everyday Cook”. The class covers kitchen basics like food prep, making flavorful stocks, knife skills, plating for eye appeal, the benefits of Mediterranean cooking, main dish soups, seafood and how to poach, grill, bake, sauté and broil. This hands-on class will meet on Tuesday nights, March 3rd – 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a free bonus class on March 31st for those attending at least three sessions. Topics: March 3rd-Mediterrean Meals, March 10th-Great Meals in Minutes, March 17th-Savory soups, March 24th-Sensational Seafood, March 31st-Bonus Class. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Instructor, seasoned photographer, artist and gadget junkie, John Hampton guides adult participants in a comprehensive, hands-on look at digital photography on Mondays, March 9th – 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost is $20.00 per person per session. Image Composition – Monday, March 9th
You’ve begun to take pictures, but want to hear “Wow!” when people see them. Learn the basic techniques of photo composition from a pro. Bring no more than two images to class for critique and assistance.
 
How to Get Off Automatic – Monday, March 16th or Monday, March 30th
Camera basics on getting the most out of your point-and-shoot digital camera. Learn tips for making better photos, with guidance from a pro. Be sure to bring your camera and manual to class.
 
Digital Workflow with Introduction to Photoshop Elements– Monday, March 23rd   
Take a “work-flow journey” with a professional photographer from the just-taken image to the finished product. In addition, learn about computer storage and backup, image manipulation, metadata and more.
