WCSD updates!
Getting WCSD e-news…
The Williamson County School District works diligently to foster communication with the constituents of the district. One new effort this year is our INFOCUS publication.
INFOCUS is a biweekly e-mail newsletter. It is published every other Thursday and it is filled with important school district information, feature stories on students and schools and more. In addition, pictures and videos are included to spotlight all that’s good about Williamson County students, teachers, and staff.
We would like all Williamson County residents to sign up to receive our email newsletter. It is very easy to register for this exciting communication tool. Simply log onto www.wcs.edu, and click on “Signup for the IN FOCUS Newsletter,” which is in the top-center of the page, underneath the district’s address. Follow the signup page directions, and you will then receive an email every other Thursday with links to each of that week’s IN FOCUS stories.
Please feel free to pass this information on to parents and business and community members about how to sign up. If you have questions, please direct them to the webmaster/editor, Matt Klitzke at mattk@wcs.edu.
WC-TV Teacher Feature
The WC-TV Teacher Feature program has begun for the 2006-07 school year.
Students and parents can nominate an outstanding teacher to be honored with this program. Three teachers are honored each month. Each honoree receives a $25 gift certificate from the CoolSprings Galleria and flowers from Publix. Each school receives a $100 check from the Sylvan Learning Center in honor of the teacher.
The teachers are surprised with a visit by school board members, the nominators, and administrators. The surprise visits are taped and aired on WC-TV, Williamson County’s education and government cable access channel which reaches Williamson County residents through Comcast Channel 3 and Charter 96.
On Oct. 4, three elementary teachers were honored. Those teachers were first grade teacher, Barbara Gilmer-Smith, from Sunset Elementary, fifth grade teacher Michelle Fouch, from Chapman’s Retreat Elementary, and fourth grade teacher Bettye Meyer, from Fairview Elementary.
Students and parents may submit a nomination to WC-TV Teacher Feature, c/o Lydia Glynn at Williamson County Schools, 1320 West Main Street, Suite 202, or they may email their nomination to teacherfeature@wcs.edu.
We hope the public enjoys these presentations on television as much as we enjoy making them.
