Third Annual OctoBRAfest Supports Breast Cancer Survivors
NASHVILLE, TN — Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis is life-changing, but there’s one organization for survivors that knows how to put some fun into the seriousness of the situation. They even did it with the name: Breast cancer Recovery in Action, better known as BRA.
The nonprofit provides a wholistic program that uses an emotional wellness curriculum, nutrition classes, therapeutic exercise, and ongoing education to create a close-knit community where breast cancer patients and survivors find unique support among others who “get it.”
BRA provides all programming at no charge, relying instead on donations and community partnerships. Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the organization playfully named its annual fundraiser OctoBRAfest. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 6 – 8 p.m. at 801 Percy Warner Blvd.
The event features dinner and drinks in traditional Octoberfest style, along with stories from program participants and a silent auction. A backdrop of musical entertainment will also add to the fun.
Sponsorship and ticket information can be found on the BRA website at www.BRAgroups.org.
