Swim Programs at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce several October swim programs at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Drive. Group swim lessons, youth swim development and a home school swim program will be offered.

GROUP SWIM LESSONS
Beginner I: Students entering this group have little or no experience in the water and will be taught basic water adaptation skills such as putting their face in the water, breath holding and assisted floating.

Beginner II: This class is designed for students who have some experience in the water and are capable of placing their face in the water. The goal is to master the prone float and back float unassisted.

Advanced I: For more advanced swimmers who have mastered floating and underwater swimming. Students will be taught the basic techniques of freestyle and backstroke, including roll breathing.

Advanced II: Swimmers in this group will refine the techniques of freestyle, backstroke and move into the basics of butterfly and breaststroke.

Parent & Tot: For ages 6 months to 36 months. This is a water adaptation class, designed to help make children comfortable in the water. It is not a “drown proofing” class. Working with the parent, a gentle loving approach is used to introduce children to the water. A parent must be in the water with the child.

Excel Swim School conducts all group classes. Swim lessons are offered in several sessions during the month of October.  To check session availability and for registration information, call Julie at (615)302-0971, ext. 23. Please leave a message including lesson skill level, name and call-back number. Space is limited.
