Sheridan PR Announces 2024 Internship Class

Local Graduates Halbig, Schmidt Join Franklin-Based Firm for 10-Week Program
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Mikiela Garcia Halbig and Emerson Schmidt have joined Franklin-based Sheridan Public Relations (SPR) as interns this summer.
Mikiela is a rising senior at Middle Tennessee State University, majoring in digital marketing with a minor in business administration. She is actively involved with the Jones College of Business as part of DECA and IGNITE. She found her marketing calling during her time at Franklin High School, where she started her own business, VolunTeens, at the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center. Mikiela, who later graduated from Independence High School, wants to get more involved with the marketing aspects of business and gain more knowledge related to her degree.
“This internship is an opportunity to really allow me to expand my knowledge and develop into a well-rounded digital marketer who can adapt to the rapid changes in media and consumer behavior,” Mikiela said. “I’m excited about SPR’s strong community focus and eager to learn from their experienced team.”
Emerson, who also graduated from Independence High School, is a rising senior at Tennessee Tech University (TTU), majoring in marketing. She is currently Secretary for TTU’s American Marketing Association chapter.
She has worked for the last year as a Marketing Assistant for TTU’s Student Engagement Department. Her responsibilities include assisting in planning and promoting events, participating in engagement marketing, planning and executing social media posts (including copywriting and graphics) and creating digital and printed signage. Prior to that role, she served as a Digital Marketing Intern at Education Outdoors, where she spearheaded successful advertising campaigns that led to increased sales and website traffic. Additionally, she revamped the company’s social media shops and created an impactful Instagram presence.
