Field Trip of a Lifetime
Every year the students of New Hope Academy look forward to the field trip of a lifetime; a personalized tour of our nation’s capitol. The whole school supports this effort even though students have to wait till 6th grade to take part. This year’s graduating class had an ambitious goal; to raise enough funds for all 16 students to get to Washington.
Their dream is becoming reality through the generosity of members in their community. One area business, Auto Wash Express will open its doors on a Sunday, as they do every spring, to help. Auto Wash Express owners David and Marilyn Knight are calling all hands on deck and once again, their staff will respond to the call by coming in to work on their day off.
On Sunday, April 6th from 1pm-5pm, Auto Wash Express will charge only $5.00 to wash the exterior of your car. 100% of all proceeds from the day will benefit the NHA 6th graders, eager for their weeklong history lesson in Washington.
American History is the primary focus in Humanities for Mrs. Dighton’s 6th grade class and this DC trip is always a highlight. There, they are able to experience much of what they have been learning throughout the year. “It is an opportunity for our potential future leaders to witness our government firsthand,” stated Dighton.
New Hope Academy’s has an enrollment of 200 students from diverse racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds; more than 50% of students receive full or partial scholarships and single moms are the head of the household for a third of these children. For some of the students at New Hope it will be the very first time to venture outside the Nashville area.
Students have worked diligently since last April to raise money through a variety of activities. They are close to meeting their $16,000 goal and everyone in their class will be able to take advantage of this golden opportunity. To support the NHA 6th graders, please call Kay McCorpin at 595.0324 for advance tickets or feel free to swing in on Sunday afternoon, March 30th to get your car washed. Auto Wash Express is located on Mallory Lane across from the Cool Springs Galleria in Franklin.
New Hope Academy is a Christ-centered community school with an economically, racially, and culturally diverse student body. It exists to serve low-income families by establishing a solid Biblical worldview, instilling vision, confirming hope and preparing each young person for a life of service.
