Weed Wrangle at Owl’s Hill
March 4, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary is partnering with The Garden Club of Nashville and Invasive Plant Control for Weed Wrangle 2022.
Invasive species notoriously out-compete our native plants and animals. Our answer is to work to rid the land of these invaders, allowing our native friends to gain a foothold and return to the systems that have grown well together for millions of years. We can’t work towards this mission without volunteer support!
Volunteers will help eradicate the nature sanctuary of non-invasive plant species through hands-on removal of especially harmful trees, vines, and flowering plants. We hope Weed Wrangle volunteers will not only learn to identify non-invasive plants, but take what they learn and begin a habit of maintaining their own backyard free of non-native invasive plants.
Owl’s Hill will treat participants to a pizza lunch afterwards. Registration is required.
Please bring gloves, water bottle and wear sturdy clothes and closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather. Free parking. Follow the directional signs at the top of the driveway to the gravel road on the left. Take the gravel road downhill to the parking area. Please sign in at the Visitor’s Center.
Weed Wrangle®-Nashville volunteers will learn, practice, and begin a habit of maintaining an area free of invasive plants. By engaging our neighbors and challenging them to take action in their own spaces, we hope to create a movement that will have the greatest impact on the invasive plant population in the Nashville area.
