Synopsis

When the Jackson family arrives in a new city midway through the school year, they quickly find themselves at the center of a struggling middle school on the brink of collapse. Jill, a devoted school counselor, watches her seventh-grade twins, Aliya and Terrel, navigate an environment plagued by bullying, apathy, and teacher burnout. At the same time, their father, Jamal, is serving overseas as a Marine sergeant. With academic morale at an all-time low and tensions simmering beneath the surface, hope arrives in the form of a newly appointed principal, Mr. Estevan, charged with reviving the faltering institution.
