Meet the Astronomer Talk + Telescope Viewing

Our signature event! Browse our exhibits, enjoy an astro talk with Q&A, and view the sky through the historic Seyfert Telescope.
The series: An astronomer or scientist discusses a topic of current interest. The talks are geared to the general adult public and typically feature graphics and videos or demonstrations.
This talk: Our own Dr. Billy Teets will discuss the upcoming total solar eclipse that will sweep through the region on April 8, 2024. He will include the celestial mechanics of the event; what to look for before, during, and after the eclipse; how to safely view the phenomenon; and offer tips of where to be and when.
Telescope viewings follow when weather permits.
