Don’t Miss “Deathtrap” at Pull-Tight Players: A Thrilling Dark Comedy in Franklin, TN
Pull-Tight Players, Franklin’s community theatre for 56 seasons, is excited to present one of Broadway’s biggest hit comic thrillers, Deathtrap. The dark comedy is written by Ira Levin and revolves around an aging, once-successful playwright who conspires to murder his protégé for his new manuscript. The colorful cast of characters and the exciting, ever-changing plot are sure to provide a great night of entertainment for all adults.
As the show progresses, we meet not only Sidney Bruhl, the playwright, and his neurotic wife, Myra, but also a cast of interesting characters who lead us through two acts of humorous yet suspenseful theater. From the Bruhls’ unique home in Westport, Connecticut, in 1979, gruesomely filled with antique weapons and playbills from Sidney’s previous hit murder mysteries, to their neighbor Helga ten Dorp, who delightfully helps us unravel the plot through her somewhat questionable psychic talents, the audience is treated to several twists and turns as we watch Sidney try desperately to resurrect his once-promising career.
Don’t miss the sociopathic young writer Clifford Anderson and the somewhat unscrupulous attorney Porter Milgrim as they add to the mysterious yet humorous performance. With an authentic set, period costumes, and an amazing assortment of vintage weapons and props, this production is not only expertly acted by some of the area’s best talent but also visually captivating. The production is directed by Daryle Tallent and produced by Mark Mason and Pat Evans. The cast includes David Douglas, Payton Justice, Myna Sowell, Amanda Baker, and Larry Carpenter.
Show dates are February 7-9, 12-16, and 19-22. Tickets go on sale on Monday, January 27th at 10 am and can be purchased online at www.pull-tight.com (while supplies last).
Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Ticket prices are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors, and $18 for children and students. Free parking is available in the Second Avenue Parking Garage adjacent to the theatre. Deathtrap contains scenes that depict violence and the use of weapons on stage.
