Youth Volleyball
Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s youth volleyball program for boys and girls begins on Mon., Aug. 25. Registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 1. The program will consist of an Introductory League for grades 4 and 5, an Intermediate League for grades 6, 7 and 8 and an Advanced League for grades 7, 8 and 9. League fees are $45 for Introductory, $60 for Intermediate and $65 for Advanced.
The Introductory League is designed for beginning players who want to build basic skills. Games and practices are played with “volley lite” volleyballs, and players do not have to serve from the baseline. In addition, coaches explain the rules of play during the game.
The Intermediate League is for players who are at the beginner level, or are new to the game, and interested in learning and improving their skills. Games and practices are played with regular volleyballs, and players are not required to serve from the baseline; although, they are encouraged to do so.
New for 2008, the Advanced League is for experienced middle school or Travel volleyball players interested in intense and competitive training. Players are required to serve from behind the baseline and are encouraged to serve overhand. Games are played according to TSSAA rules. This league will be in a “round robin” format with a tournament held at the end of regular season.
