Wilson Herbert Barbeque Cook-Off
Attention all Pit Bosses, Master Grillers, Rib Roasters and Chicken Glazers! It’s time for the 4th annual Wilson Herbert Barbeque Cook-off, Saturday, August 2nd at the 2008 Williamson County Fair presented by Tractor Supply Company. The smokers will crank up at 7:00am at the main entrance to the fair at the Ag Expo Park located at 4215 Long Lane in Franklin.
The county’s best barbeque chefs will compete for $2,500 in prize money in the ribs ($1000 first prize), chicken ($1000 first prize) and “anything goes” ($500 first prize) categories. Contestants in the “anything goes” category must cook a meat item (no vegetables allowed) and use their culinary skills and inventive minds to create a winning entry. Judging will be at 3:00pm and awards will be given at 5:00pm.
The Wilson Herbert Barbeque Cook-off competition is limited to 25 teams, and contestants must live or work in Williamson County. Individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations are invited to enter as a team. A traveling trophy will be given to the Grand Champion to keep until next year’s competition. There will be a $100 non-refundable entry fee for all categories, and the entry deadline is July 26th.
The 2008 fair offers convenient, free on-site parking and shuttle buses to the main gate provided by Nissan North America. Regular admission to the fair is $5 in advance, $6 at the gate. Children ages 6 – 12 are $2 in advance, $3 at the gate. Children ages 5 and under are free. Advance tickets are on sale at ten Middle Tennessee Tractor Supply Company locations and twenty area Daily’s convenience stores through the end of the fair. Nine-day general admission passes are available (at the gate only) for $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-12.
