Welcome to Fashionably Timeless

Welcome to Fashionably Timeless

By Sarah Carlos

Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashions fade, but style is eternal.”

That has become my motto. The way I look at it, there is no reason why you shouldn’t have class or style in everything you do. Even if your style may not be what someone else considers cool, the way you become timeless is to break fashion boundaries: make combinations based on opposites in your wardrobe, bring old trends back, and push current trends to the point that they become something new altogether.

Constantly experimenting makes you timeless.

To me, fashion is art, and I love doing a masterpiece every single day. I grew up in fashion. I was living in my own in Italy at the age of 16, modeling for some of the top designers in the business. Although the experience became so painful that I blocked it out of my subconscious for many years, fashion is so natural to me, so engrained, that I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have.

Although you will scarcely ever find me discussing that past, I will say that valuing your body is important; don’t ever lose sight of your morals and who you are (which isn’t easy in a society constantly in flux); don’t EVER think that those models you see in magazines have an easy and healthy life, because they DON’T – many are eating just enough to keep them alive so they can fit into a size 0 or two, using drugs and exercising to an unhealthy point.

And please don’t ever compare yourself to these women or anyone else. You are unique and should express yourself in a way that fits your life and personality.

I am here at Franklinis.com to give you tips on what to wear to weddings, some of the coolest places to shop in Franklin, the scoop on hip local designers, the latest trends, tips on how to develop your style, ways to approach your wardrobe, and much more. I may seem set in my ways, but my style is constantly changing and morphing into something different.

If you want me to cover something I haven’t previously talked about, please don’t hesitate to ask, and I will cover it in future columns. Thank you for your support. I look forward to see you strutting out in the real world.

Don’t ever be afraid to experiment with your style – always be fashionably timeless.
