Valentine Arts & Crafts for Kids

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announces children’s arts and crafts classes with a Valentine theme at the Franklin and Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Recreation complexes. WCPRD is a public organization, here to benefit the community. No membership is required. Anyone, including out-of-county residents, can register for and participate in our classes – even if you don’t have a facility pass. Come by the Franklin, Fairview, and Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Recreation Complexes to pick up a Valentine’s picture for the Williamson County Parks & Recreation Department’s coloring contest. Prizes will be awarded for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place in each age group. Age groups are: 3 to 4 year olds, 5 to 6 year olds, 7 to 8 year olds, and 9 to 10 year olds. Celebrate the valentine season by painting ceramic figures. Choose from hearts of all kinds. The cost is $5 per child. Valentine ceramics will be held on Thursday, February 5^th from 4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. at the Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Recreation Center, 5325 Old Highway 96 West (Call 790-5719, ext. 20 to register). Ceramics will also be offered on Friday, February 6^th from 4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Make all sorts of Valentine projects in this fun class for ages 5 and up. Students will be making a Valentine Tic-Tac-Toe Board. You will be surprised how much fun it is! The Valentine project class will meet Thursday, February 5^th from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro-Leiper’s Fork Recreation Center, 5325 Old Highway 96 in Leiper’s Fork. Stuff-n-Fluff a cute, cuddly Valentine Bear. Make a special Valentine wish, name your bear with a birth certificate, dress it in a costume (additional fee) and decorate a take-home bag. This workshop is a great family activity. Children ages 2 to 12 years are welcome (ages 2-4 require parent participation). The Valentine Bear workshop is Saturday, February 14^th, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The class fee is $8, plus a $5 minimum supply fee.
