Old World Italian Dinner (Jan. 12)

Black Diamond Culinary is an event space that fosters a love of food and relationships through cooking classes and dinner parties. This Thursday at 5:30 p.m., you are invited to an authentic Italian dining experience. This dinner features 6 courses of food with curated wine pairings from all over Italy! This Italian dinner party hosted by Black Diamond Culinary is fun, elegant, tasty, and educational. Get together with family and friends to experience an authentic, Old World Italian dinner! 

 

The Franklin Farmers Market (Jan. 14)

You can find The Franklin Farmers Market behind The Factory at Franklin every Saturday morning from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m.! This recurring local event hosts numerous vendors selling not only fresh produce and baked goods, but also handcrafted items and local art! The Franklin Farmers Market proves the importance of contributing to your community and offers the perfect opportunity to support your local farmers, kitchens, and artisans!

 

Marshmallow Hikes (Jan. 14)

Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary is hosting a series of hikes through the winter woods this season, accompanied by hot chocolate and marshmallows for when you return! These Marshmallow Hikes take 30-45 minutes to complete and have two difficulty levels to choose from. This Saturday from 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m., head over to Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary to explore the beautiful winter scenery and enjoy some hot chocolate with marshmallows with new and old friends! 

 

Ballerina Storytime (Jan. 14)

ROOTS Academy in Brentwood is hosting a free ballerina story time this Saturday for 3 and 4-year olds! This event consists of a professional ballerina dancing around the room, while telling a mesmerizing story! Children will be able to take a picture with the ballerina as well as bring home a keepsake, all for free! There are two time options of 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for this captivating event, and don’t forget to let the friendly staff know if you and your child are interested in learning about ROOTS Academy’s Preschool Dance program! 

 

Act Too Performances (Jan. 14-15)

Act Too Players School of Music and Theater creates an empowering and empathetic environment for kids and teenagers to experience and exceed in the world of performing arts. January is a big month of performances for Act Too Players, so make sure to check out their end-of-semester showcases at The Franklin Theatre! This week, you can find productions of School House Rock Jr., Shrek Jr., and Junie B. Jones

School House Rock Jr.: Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s cartoon, this musical follows a new teacher, nervous about the first day of classes. With catchy classics like “Just a Bill”, “Nouns”, and “Conjunction Junction”, you are likely to leave the theatre with some newfound knowledge! School House Rock Jr. is rated G and will be shown on January 13 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. as well as on January 14 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.! 

Shrek Jr.: Based on the Oscar-winning film and Broadway musical, Shrek The Musical Jr. follows the ogre Shrek in his adventure of rescuing a princess with other misfit fairytale characters and finding acceptance. Shrek The Musical Jr. is rated G and will be shown on January 14 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. as well as on January 15 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.! 

Junie B. Jones: Based on the book Junie B. Jones is Not a Crook by Barbara Park, this live adaptation tells the story of a young girl learning some life lessons. This funny and light-hearted production is rated G and will be shown on January 15 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.!
