The Spitfire Grill: A Musical of Hope and Redemption opens at Pull-Tight Players on June 6th

Pull-Tight Players, downtown Franklin’s longstanding community theatre, is excited to conclude its 56th season with a trip to rural Wisconsin in the musical The Spitfire Grill.
Based on the 1996 film, The Spitfire Grill tells the tale of Percy Talbott. A young parolee yearning for a fresh start, inspired by a page from an old travel book, makes her way to Gilead, Wisconsin. “A place for leaving, not for coming to,” Gilead is not much more than an old café and a post office, a small town with a gritty heart aching with longing and regret. Unexpectedly discovering the healing power of community while working at the Spitfire Grill, Percy reawakens the entire town’s capacity for forgiveness and hope. Set to a melodic folk-inspired score, Spitfire is a beautiful celebration of the power of human kindness.
Heartwarming and sentimental, the story of The Spitfire Grill is in masterful hands with the dynamic duo of Laurel Aiello and Beth Woodruff co-directing. In their words, “when we were first approached about directing The Spitfire Grill, neither one of us had ever heard of it. We were immediately captivated by the folk and bluegrass score, as well as the acoustic sound that complements our theater so beautifully. This character-driven show is unique in musical theater, and we knew our audiences would respond to its message of redemption and resilience.”
Suitable for all audiences, mark your calendars for May 26th when tickets go on sale and join us to discover the compelling beauty that lies in second chances.
The show dates are June 6 – 8, June 11 – 15, and June 18 – 21. Tickets can be purchased at www.pull-tight.com. Free parking is available in the Second Avenue Parking Garage adjacent to the theatre.
