Skanska Receives Two Awards at Association of Builders and Contractors of Greater Tennessee Annual Awards
Skanska was honored with the Eagle Award for work on Vanderbilt’s Kirkland Hall and the STEP award for excellence in safety
FRANKLIN, TN (January 15) – Skanska, one of the world’s leading construction and development firms, was recently recognized at the Association of Builders and Contractors of Greater Tennessee Annual Awards. The Nashville team received the Eagle Award for its work on Vanderbilt Kirkland Hall and Diamond Level recognition for the Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) award.
“Honoring the rich history of the Kirkland Hall building was an integral part of the renovation process,” said Chris Hopper, Executive Vice President-General Manager, with Skanska USA Building. “We’re proud of our team for their careful and respectful approach to the project and incorporating technology to ensure preservation of the iconic structure while modernizing it to meet the current needs of Vanderbilt’s administration.”
Kirkland Hall is a historic building on Vanderbilt University’s campus that was originally constructed in 1875. The building houses the Office of the Chancellor, the provost, and other vice chancellors. It is one of Vandy’s five original buildings, and in 2022 the building began its first major renovation since 1988, with the project led by Skanska.
Skanska was also awarded the Diamond Level of the Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) award for the fourth year in a row. The STEP Award honors companies that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to world-class safety performance in the construction industry. Skanska was recognized for its outstanding safety program.
“This recognition is a testament of our commitment to maintaining world-class safety standards across all our projects,” said Tony Foster, EHS Director with Skanska USA Building. “Our safety program is built on the dedication and vigilance of our entire team, ensuring that every individual returns home safely each day. Our safety commitment goes beyond physical precautions, as we also put an emphasis on mental health, prioritizing safety in every aspect.
These recognitions underscore Skanska’s continued dedication to excellence, innovation and safety in the construction industry.
