Seniors to Visit Shaker Museum

Learn more about the Shaker community of South Union, Kentucky on a day trip with the Senior Division of the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department, Thursday, September 25th.  South Union is one of 24 villages that were established by the Shakers, a communal religious organization that flourished in America in the 19th century. The tour will include the Shaker Museum, located in the 40-room Centre House (built in 1824), a shining example of Shaker architecture and ingenuity.  The museum contains scores of original Shaker artifacts, including oval boxes, baskets, silks, linens, and early wooden tools, as well as examples of Shaker furniture. After the tour, enjoy a buffet lunch at the Shaker Tavern Bed and Breakfast.
 
The cost is $27 per person (all inclusive). Check-in time the day of the trip begins at 8:00am with an estimated return time of 3:30pm. All transportation is provided by motor coach and will leave from the Franklin Recreation Complex located at 1120 Hillsboro Rd., Franklin. Space is limited!
 
To register, call 790-5719, ext. 10 beginning at 9:00 a.m. on or after the first registration date. You must speak with a receptionist in order to make a reservation. You may also register in person. Williamson County residents may register between September 5th and September 23rd. Non-residents are welcome to register between September 10th and September 23rd.

 

Reservations must be paid within 5 days of registration in order to be held. Payment may be received by mail, over the phone or in person (credit card purchases must be over $20.00 and will include a small processing fee) and are non-refundable after the final registration date; unless, the seat is filled from the waiting list. Participants may register up to 1 additional person for each trip.
