Santa’s Helpers Will Deliver Pets Christmas Morning
Staff members from the Williamson County Animal Center in Franklin, TN are ready to help Santa with pet deliveries on Christmas morning. “Every year,” said Shelter Director Laura Chavarria, “Santa always asks for our help with deliveries in this area. We keep the pets safe and warm until Christmas morning.”
Chavarria said her staff members have volunteered to get up early on Christmas morning to make the deliveries. “This is a fun way for us to give back to the community and make Christmas wishes come true.” Any pet adopted from the shelter between December 17 and December 24 will be eligible for the free Christmas morning delivery. During December, adoption fees are $25. All senior pet (age 6 or older) adoption fees are sponsored by Darrell Waltrip Subaru of Franklin. The shelter has a wonderful selection of cats and dogs looking for forever homes during the holiday season.
Staying Home for Holidays? Be a Holiday Pet Foster Family!
In response to community interest in helping during the holiday season, Laura Chavarria, director of Williamson County Animal Center, is offering a holiday pet foster program to the community. “We have a
number of pets that need a holiday break,” she said. “Unfortunately, many dogs and cats are surrendered to us on a regular basis. Some are particularly stressed by the shelter environment, and would especially benefit from being in a home setting.”
Chavarria is looking for Williamson County families that will be staying home for the holidays. “We are seeking families that will commit to fostering from December 23 through 28 or longer.” Fosters must come to the shelter, fill out a foster application and meet with foster coordinator Amber. Approved families will be matched with a cat or dog. Foster pet pick-up will be 2 p.m. on December 23.
Williamson County Animal Center will be closed on December 25, 26 and 27, 2016 and January 1 and 2, 2017. Special hours for December 23 and 24 are 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The shelter is located at 106 Claude Yates Dr., next to Franklin High School, and the phone number is (615) 790-5590. Adoptable animals can be viewed at www. adoptwcac.org or during regular operating hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
