This month, we are going to begin featuring the recipes of Miss Daisy King, Tennessee’s “First Lady of Southern Cooking.”
Miss Daisy is the author of seven cookbooks, which have a combined sales of more than $1.5 million and have made their way throughout the homes and kitchens of America.
Miss Daisy has been an advocate of the culture and cuisine of the South in her writings, work and media appearances. She has appeared on NBC’s Today show, CBS’ This Morning, NPTV’s Word on Words, TNN and other cable networks and network affiliates throughout the country. In 1995, Miss Daisy Celebrates Tennessee won a QVC Best of Show award.
Miss Daisy, a native of Buford, Ga., graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, where she earned her degree in Home Economics and Journalism. During her years ad a restaurateur in middle Tennessee, she was also a media spokesperson for Pilsbury Grands, Swift and Bisquick. Miss Daisy has worked as a food consultant for several major supermarket chains, and Miss Daisy’s Classic Southern Foods(TM) are available in supermarkets throughout the midstate area. She also maintains a “Featured Foods” section within the Grassland Market.
