Holly Trolley light tours!

This year marks the fourth year of the “Holly Trolley Holiday Lights Tour” offered by the FranklinTransit Authority. Debbie Henry, the Director of Communications, explains that the trolley itself was an inspiration for the special light tour as it is “public transportation in a cute suit.” They began this yearly tradition as a “holiday gift to the community” providing an “affordable way to get together with friends and family and have a night out” and as an attempt to “broaden their scope of riders.”

While some only experience the quaint comfortable trolley ride once a year, others depend on it daily to get to work. The transit authority “strives to make a positive impact on people’s lives” and they want the general public to take advantage of this wonderful affordable community service throughout the year. Starting January 1, 2007 they are adding more vehicles, expanding routes, broadening their services, and making the routes shorter and more time efficient. As you enjoy the light tour this December also consider using the trolley on other occasions in 2007.

Due to popularity of the special light tour, they have added another trolley this year offering more seats. However, the tour has sold out every year so get your tickets early. Tours will take place Dec. 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 21 and 22. Check their website http://www.franklintrolleys.org  for daily schedules and ticket information.

All riders are invited to enjoy holiday cookies and milk before the ride in the lobby of the TMA building, 108 Fourth Avenue South, 30 minutes prior to departure, provided by Thomas Shell with Thomas H. Shell Properties. Tours will spotlight decorated homes throughout Franklin and Brentwood taking approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets are $15 (no exceptions for infants or small children) and can be purchased at the Franklin Transit Authority Office. Reservations can be made over the phone but tickets are not guaranteed until they are paid for. For more information call 615.794.4252.

As Debbie Henry says “the Holly Trolley Lights Tour is the perfect holiday outing! Bring your family and friends aboard the Franklin Trolleys for some Williamson County holiday fun!”
