Franklin, TN — Franklin Special District (FSD) is proud to announce Dr. Amanda Muniz, Moore Elementary School principal, as the district’s Principal of the Year, and Robbin Cross, Food and Culinary Services Supervisor, as Supervisor of the Year. Both honorees will represent FSD in the Tennessee Department of Education’s Excellence in Education awards program, with the opportunity to advance to regional and state competitions.

Dr. Muniz was selected for her steady, student-centered leadership and for cultivating a school culture that excels in its academic goals while celebrating faculty, students, and families at every turn. Her leadership emphasizes both high expectations and a strong sense of purpose, creating an environment where students feel supported, teachers feel valued, and families feel welcomed as true partners in their children’s education. Under her direction, Moore Elementary continues to thrive with strong community engagement, innovative learning initiatives, and a warm, inclusive atmosphere that reflects the heart of the school.

Cross was chosen for her exceptional leadership of FSD’s Food and Culinary Services Department. She has elevated meal service quality, expanded access to nutritious options, and strengthened team training, all while maintaining cafeterias that are welcoming, efficient, and student-centered. Her commitment to securing new funding sources—including grants—has helped support the innovative nutrition initiatives that make FSD cafeterias healthier and tastier. She also launched a program that taps into the generosity of the community, inviting donors to help families in need pay off lunch debt and ensuring all students can enjoy nutritious meals with dignity and without worry.

“Dr. Muniz and Mrs. Cross represent the heart of our district,” said Dr. David Snowden, FSD Director of Schools. “Their leadership is rooted in service—service to students, to their teams, and to our community. They bring passion, vision, and a deep commitment to doing what is best for children every single day. We are incredibly proud to honor them and to send them forward to represent FSD at the state level.”

Franklin Special District is a prekindergarten through eighth-grade public school district serving the families of historic Franklin, Tennessee, in eight schools.
