Franklin’s 1799 Kitchen & Cocktails Gets a Refresh—Now 1799 Kitchen & Bar Room

Big changes are happening at The Harpeth Hotel! Their signature restaurant has relaunched with a new name—1799 Kitchen & Bar Room—and a refreshed vision that blends elevated dining with a renewed sense of community.
Named for the year Franklin was founded, the reimagined space keeps its roots in Southern hospitality while evolving into something more dynamic. Curated by Director of Food and Beverage Jason Francis and Executive Chef Thomas Tuggle, the new 1799 experience was shaped in part by the voices of local guests. Community focus groups—made up of regulars, business owners, and Franklin residents—helped guide the changes by sharing what they’ve always loved about 1799 and what they’d like to see moving forward.
The updated menu leans into creativity and seasonality, with standout dishes like prime beef wellington, blue crab and shrimp crumpet, and panna cotta. A robust cocktail menu and access to more than 240 varieties from the hotel’s whiskey keep round out the experience. It’s all served in a newly styled dining room where laid-back luxury meets thoughtful design, with fresh décor and updated table settings.
Outside, The Harpeth is also investing in an expanded courtyard dining area, complete with additional seating and ambient market lighting. Whether you’re gathering for a special occasion or just unwinding with friends, the new 1799 Kitchen & Bar Room offers a space to connect, relax, and enjoy the best of local flavor—inside and out!
