Philanthropy, history, exercise, and nearly 10,000 community members on the Historic Franklin Square on Labor Day – what could be greater? September 5, 2011 marks the 33rd year of one of the community’s most respected races, the Franklin Classic, benefiting Mercy Children’s Clinic. This year includes even more family fun, prizes, and a brand new surprise technical t-shirt design that every runner receives by registering.

The competitive 10K and 5K courses are certified and timed by the Nashville Striders, using ChampionChip timing chips. The 5K course welcomes both runners and walkers. Participants can register for both races to complete a longer run. Adults register for $30 ($35 Race Day) and Youth 17 and under can register for $20. The 1K Kid’s Run concludes the races, and can be run by children 9 and under for $10. All of the money raised from race registration benefits the families of Mercy Children’s Clinic, a non-profit pediatric clinic in Franklin.

Following the races, a great celebration will be held on the Franklin Square, including a free Kid’s Zone with bounce houses, toss games, face painting, snow cones, and more, a musical performance by Scat Springs, and an award ceremony congratulating the winners.
