What began as Cricket Madden and her husband helping their daughter decide what career path to pursue after high school, led to them opening downtown Franklin’s unique skoah® facials skincare spa.
Says Cricket, “Our middle daughter Natalie was supposed to attend the University of Tennessee, and when we arrived on campus with her, she realized UTK was too big, and began considering a trade school. We were very supportive of her decision to attend the Aveda Institute,” says Cricket. “Natalie had a real interest in make-up, skincare, hair, and nails. With her interest in skincare and dedication to this profession, we decided to open skoah facial shop, a woman- owned business, in Franklin. We decided on skoah because it’s Canadian, and Canada is more strict on labeling and what’s allowed in their products, which are all plant-based, vegan, and organic with the exception of one which we don’t use.”
skoah’s history dates to 2003, where the ‘facials only’ shop first opened its doors in Vancouver. That same year skoah hired a chemist and launched its skin care product line which included five products; today they offer more than 42. Their unique combination of personalized facial treatments, expert estheticians, and powerful skin care products established a distinctive skin care experience dubbed ‘personal training for your skin.’
Fast forward to September 2021, when Cricket opened the doors of downtown Franklin’s skoah facial shop where, she’s proud to share, “facial and skin fitness is our passion.” Their customized facials provide guests with the exact skin care treatment they’re looking for, designed to ‘train, tone, and focus on a healthy face.’ All skoah products utilize high-performance, plant-based ingredients including botanical extracts, natural minerals, organic compounds, and powerful bio-actives. “The thing I love most about our facials is that people leave feeling very relaxed and are absolutely glowing!
