Awesome 80s Party Totally Rocks!
On June 29th, the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing hosted the Awesome 80’s Party at the Factory at Franklin to celebrate 80 years of service. With approximately 300 Dudes and dudettes dressed to the nines, the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing raised approximately $33,000.
Walking into Jamison Hall at the Factory was like walking back in time. The band, Guilty Pleasures played excellent tunes. Behind the band on a large screen, TV. clips and movie clips from the 80s were silently playing. In addition to the Guilty Pleasures, there was a mini arcade set up with Pac man games to play.
If the guests weren’t dancing or playing Pac man they were enjoying fun food. With yummy eats such as sub sandwiches, salsa and cheese dip with chips, chicken fingers and other tasty treats, you felt like you were stepping back into former High School days. In addition to the authentic food and totally trendy tunes, guests participated in an impressive silent auction.
The spectacular silent auction had a variety of high quality items to choose from. Local vendors and friends of the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing donated wonderful pieces to help raise money for the League.
Overall the Awesome 80’s Party was a great success. The community came together to celebrate the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. To find out how you can support the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, visit their website at www.leagueforthedeaf.com.
