City Of Franklin Awarded Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently announced that the City of Franklin received the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget. According to the GFOA, the award represents a significant achievement by the City and reflects the commitment of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
In order to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as: a policy document; a financial plan; an operations guide; and a communications device. Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
“We are very proud of receiving the GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for six years in a row,” stated City Administrator Eric Stuckey. “I’m especially proud of our Finance team and other staff throughout the City for all the hard work they put into the budget to make this possible.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,800 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
