Candidates’ Forum
Sept. 29 in Franklin municipal election
Franklin Tomorrow will hold a Candidates’ Forum Sept. 29 at Franklin City Hall featuring candidates in the Franklin municipal election, set for Oct. 25.
Franklin voters will choose four at-large aldermen from a field of nine candidates and a mayor from a field of two. All candidates have been invited to participate with the aldermanic candidates being first on the dais at 6 p.m., followed approximately 1 1/2 hours later by the mayoral candidates.
“One of the aspects of Franklin Tomorrow’s mission is to educate the public on issues and the governmental process,” said Dan Ryan, Franklin Tomorrow Board of Directors president. “We do not endorse candidates, but through this forum, offer the voters the chance to better know the candidates and their stands on the issues facing Franklin.”
Franklin Tomorrow asked the candidates several questions last month and the information and profiles of those who responded can be found on the Web site at www.franklintomorrow.org.
FranklinTV, the city’s cable TV channel, will broadcast the forum live and then replay it in the month before the election. Franklin Tomorrow Board members and staff are developing questions for the forum, although the public may submit questions for consideration to Executive Director Mindy Tate by email at mindy@franklintomorrow.org. Tate will moderate the forum.
The public is invited to attend the forum and a reception will begin at 5 p.m. at City Hall prior to the event to allow voters to meet the candidates.
