January Activities

Fight the winter blues
with fun family activities around Franklin in January. There are some good alternatives to sitting around the house for children of all ages. Here is a sampling of what cultural and educational opportunities you might find around town.

School is not the only place to learn! Children ages 4-10 have the opportunity to participate in the program “Chinese for Children” with the Williamson County/Franklin Recreation Complex. The program runs for four Fridays in January beginning January 9th. Sign-up your children today by calling (615) 790-5719, ext. 10.

Start proper etiquette early! Good Manners Lady will be teaching a 5-week course in etiquette and manners for children ages 6-12 years. The class will meet every Thursday beginning January 15, 2009 from 4:30pm-6:30pm. A refreshment break will be included during the class. For more information check out www.goodmannerslady.com.

The place everyone wants to be on a cold, rainy day is inside. And a great, simple activity for those days is to watch a movie. But an even better activity is to take a trip to see a live theatre performance. Luckily, Franklin has several nice playhouses, which often hold performances of shows suitable for the whole family. Check out Disney’s 101 Dalmatians at 7pm on January 15 and January 16 or at 2:30pm, 5:00 or 7:30 on January 17. The show is geared for ages 8-11 years. The show will be at the Factory, performed by the Bravo Creative Arts Center. For more information check out www.bravocreativeartscenter.com.
