Franklin Special District Earns $607,142 State Bonus for High Performance
Franklin, TN — Franklin Special District’s strong academic performance is bringing additional funding back to the community. The State of Tennessee has awarded the district $607,142 in bonus funding through its school accountability program, recognizing FSD’s high performance and directing additional state dollars to local classrooms without increasing the tax burden for Franklin residents.
The funding is part of a statewide initiative that rewards school systems with strong results on Tennessee’s school letter grade system, which evaluates student achievement, academic growth, and progress among students with the greatest needs.
“This recognition reflects the intense focus our teachers and staff put into their work and the support our families provide,” said Dr. David Snowden, Franklin Special District Director of Schools. “The additional funding helps us reinvest in the classrooms and programs that make a difference for our students.”

State leaders say the program highlights districts that are making a measurable impact for students, noting FSD is one of 22 local education agencies (LEA) in the state to be awarded a bonus for its high performance in the state’s letter grade assessment. To be recognized, more than half of a LEA’s schools must receive a letter grade of A for their TCAP performance.
“The State Report Card celebrates the progress and achievements of public schools and districts across Tennessee,” said Tennessee Commissioner of Education Lizzette Reynolds in the notification letter to Snowden. “We are inspired by the dedication of schools that excelled and are making a meaningful difference for students.”
Franklin Special District serves students in grades PreK–8 across eight schools in historic Franklin, Tennessee.
