Leading Nashville-based creative studio advances the next generation of design leadership

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Feb. 9, 2026 – Pfeffer Torode Architecture, a design studio known for its thoughtful work across homes, public spaces and interiors, has named four leaders to new roles: Dave Brawner, managing principal; Rachel Martin, principal; Virginia Au, principal; and Jeff Bak, managing director. Their appointments mark an intentional expansion of the firm’s leadership and reflect a deep commitment to continuity, collaboration and design rooted in place.

Founding principals Jamie Pfeffer, Jonathan Torode and Scott Torode remain deeply engaged in leading the firm’s work. The appointments reflect Pfeffer Torode’s long-standing belief in shared authorship and mentorship across generations—reinforcing the values that shape the studio’s design culture and daily practice.

Dave Brawner, Managing Principal

Dave Brawner joined the firm in 2018 and previously served as managing director. In his expanded role, he helps guide firm-wide strategy, operations and project delivery. He combines creativity and operational clarity to translate design ambition into disciplined collaboration. A graduate of Mississippi State University, he will drive growth and accountability with scalable systems that facilitate authentic and soulful work.

Rachel Martin, Principal

Rachel Martin joined the firm in 2014 and will collaboratively lead the Home Studio with a focus on creating residences that balance beauty, function and restraint. With dual degrees in interior design and architecture from the University of Tennessee and nearly two decades of industry experience, she brings together art and structure through a thoughtful, collaborative process that yields designs as enduring as they are expressive.

Ginny Au-Pfeffer Torode

Virginia Au, Principal

Virginia Au will continue to shape the firm’s creative vision and guide the Interiors Studio. Drawing from her global background in art, design and storytelling, she bridges architecture and narrative to champion craftsmanship, curiosity and clarity across disciplines. She is an alumna of the University of Georgia and is deeply committed to creating a culture of creative belonging and ownership.

Jeff Bak_Pfeffer Torode

Jeff Bak, Managing Director

Jeff Bak previously served as director of operations and will lead operational strategy and structure. A registered architect, he applies a creative lens to practice management, where workflow and culture are design opportunities in their own right. His leadership will reinforce a connected studio environment where process and design excellence underpin one another. He completed his thesis at the prestigious Rural Studio while earning his degree from Auburn University.
