Williamson County Animal Center Monthly Rabies Vaccination Clinic Rescheduled
Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) is hosting its monthly rabies vaccination and microchip clinic on Saturday, August 23. Typically held on the last Saturday of each month, August’s clinic is one week earlier to avoid conflicting with plans that pet families may have for Labor Day weekend.
Tennessee requires rabies vaccination for all cats and dogs over six-months of age and that owners are able to provide proof, such as the tags that are included as part of the $10 vaccination fee during the clinic. The clinic begins at 9:00 a.m. and the line remains open until 11:00 a.m. Early arrival is encouraged. Rabies vaccinations for pets of community members are only available at the animal center during these clinics.
Microchipping is also available for $15 per pet at WCAC during the clinic as well as Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. According to WCAC Assistant Director Scott Pieper, lost animals brought to the shelter that have a microchip with correct owner information are more than twice as likely to be returned to the family looking for them than those without.
Eight-year old Mia is a friendly and playful senior gal while awake, but she definitely enjoys napping. She is housetrained, knows her manners, and has done well with other dogs at WCAC, though she can be a little anxious when meeting canine friends or humans for the first time, we don’t know about cats. For those who like to plan ahead, the clinic in November and December will take place one Saturday earlier as well; November 22 and December 20.
WCAC is located at 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court in Franklin, near Franklin Christian Academy. The center is typically open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.; closed Sunday. However, in observance of Labor Day, WCAC will close on Monday, September 1.
