Tennessee office enhances expertise in education and government sectors by relocating additional strategic leaders
Brentwood, Tenn. — December 17, 2024— Wold Architects & Engineers, a full-service planning, architecture and engineering firm specializing in education and government, announced today the hire of Hays Layerd as a new principal and relationship manager at its Brentwood, Tenn. office.
Layerd joins Wold with more than 22 years of industry experience spanning public, institutional and private sectors. His blended approach of strategic insight, technical expertise and creative vision make him uniquely qualified to lead projects of all sizes, ensuring innovative designs that closely align with client needs. Known for his ability to unite stakeholders and guide projects from concept to completion, Layerd will be a valuable asset to the firm as it grows its capabilities in Tennessee.
As a relationship manager, Layerd will drive the successful execution of education and government building projects, ensuring they align with district and client goals at every stage. A passionate and technically skilled professional, Layerd earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University.

Dierks joins Layerd in Wold’s Tennessee office as a key additional leader, bringing his expertise and guidance to further establish the firm’s presence in education and government building design across the state. As Wold’s CEO and a recognized leader in the architecture industry, Dierks brings over 30 years of experience and a proven track record of success, helping to oversee the Tennessee office’s growth and supporting clients as a trusted resource. His passion for education planning and deep knowledge of the design process make him an invaluable advisor to school districts, guiding them through every phase of planning, design and implementation with exceptional care and attention to detail. Dierks holds a Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
