Turkey Trot struts to record attendance

More than 3,000 runners braved the chilly temperatures Thanksgiving morning for the 15th Annual Turkey Trot 5K hosted by GraceWorks Ministries.

This year was the biggest Turkey Trot in the 15 year history of the race, according to representatives of GraceWorks. Proceeds from the race go toward GraceWorks upkeep, supplies and events.

Participants adorned themselves in turkey-themed head wear as well as festive T-shirts distributed to the first 2,500 people registered. The Turkey Trot 5k began at 8 a.m. followed by the Kids Kilometer Fun Run at 9 a.m.

The GraceWorks Turkey Trot will return next Thanksgiving Day to the D1 Sports Training facility in Cool Springs.
