So You’re Making Resolutions

The first week of January is when the resolutions start. You find yourself swearing off junk food and alcohol, and promises to go the gym fall by the wayside. How about doing something fun and easy that you can actually stick with? Here are five easy tips that are sure to spruce up your wardrobe and revamp your entire look. It’s just that easy.
1. I will wear dresses instead of jeans
Everyone knows you as the “jeans girl.” You live in them on the weekends, you wear them for your entire vacation, you go to parties in them…..you would even wear them to work if you were allowed to! I have been there. Denim is fabulous, but mix it up a little bit and put on a dress. You will not only shock everyone with your change, but you will be surprised at how good it feels to get out of your usual routine.
2. I will rotate trendy pieces into my wardrobe
I of all people am all about a classic wardrobe. I mean, you don’t want to look at yourself in a photo 10 years from now wearing the latest eighties monstrosity that came back into fashion. But there is nothing wrong with taking some small risks and breaking the mold, especially if the trendy piece has the potential to become a classic.
3. I will clean out my closet
No one wants to hear this one, but it will help. I actually try to clean out my closet every 6 months. No matter how organized you think you are, you will forget about things you buy, and finding them undisturbed in your closet is almost like the feeling you had when you found them in the store the first time. Re-sell, donate, and trash old items you don’t wear anymore, and feel free to restock in the areas where you feel you are lacking.
4. I will pick a style icon to inspire me
Sarah Jessica Parker is definitely my style icon. This has a little bit to do with the clothes she frequently wore on Sex and the City (even though her wardrobe was done by Patricia Field), but even more to do with what she currently wears. She takes risks, and I love that. Choose someone whose personal style you follow or admire and imitate some of their looks to add even more flair to your wardrobe.
5. I will buy cute workout clothes
It is a proven fact that wearing cute workout clothes motivates you to stick with your routine more than if you were wearing ugly old sweats. You feel more confident in a flattering fitness outfit, and as a result you will find yourself at the gym more. Fitness and staying healthy is always important, so make an effort to keep that gym resolution. Just be sure to invest in a cute workout outfit to ensure that your resolution sticks!
