J.E.A.P.’s Hit the Harpeth

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s “J.E.A.P.s” program for kids ages 12 to 15 will canoe the Harpeth River on Saturday, April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. These “Junior Excursion Adventure Programs” give energetic kids a way to embrace new athletic experiences under the expert guidance and safety of Parks and Recreation staffer Trisha Bilbrey. The trip launches from the Franklin Recreation Complex where the group takes a 45-minute trek by van to “Foggy Bottom Canoe Rentals” along the Harpeth River. Two hours later, the paddlers finish their canoe trip at “Narrows of the Harpeth State Park” where they’ll grill hotdogs and hamburgers for dinner. Cost for the trip is $25.00 per person. Space is limited, so register early!

Parents, be sure your child has had lunch before the trip departure and they are wearing sunscreen on exposed skin areas. Required attire for the trip is a swimsuit, tennis shoes and comfortable paddling clothes. Be sure to bring a towel and an extra change of clothing. Registration is required by calling Trisha Bilbrey at 790-5719, ext. 44.

The Franklin Recreation Complex is located at 1120 Hillsboro Road in Franklin.
