High Hopes Fifth Annual Giving on the Green Golf Tournament

High Hopes Fifth Annual Giving on the Green Golf Tournament

High Hopes, Inc., an inclusive preschool and pediatric therapy clinic in Cool Springs, hosts its Fifth Annual Giving on the Green Golf Tournament on June 2, 2008 at noon at Brentwood Country Club. The First Annual Children’s Walk-a-Thon will begin at 5:45pm.

Giving on the Green is one of two major fundraisers held each year benefiting the non-profit preschool and clinic. This year’s event begins with a noon shotgun start and includes 18 holes of golf, box lunch, and buffet dinner catered by Brentwood Country Club. Event chairs Vic Brown and Jim Gray expect this year’s event to not only provide golfers a fun and relaxing day of golf but to also raise money for the much-needed programs High Hopes offers to children.

“A visit to High Hopes will inspire any golfer to join us for this great Monday afternoon of golf. I have been genuinely impressed with the programs and services that the preschool and clinic offer and this is certainly an enjoyable way for golfers to make a contribution,” said Gray.

Additionally, this year marks the beginning of what will certainly become an annual tradition for High Hopes, the children’s Walk-a-Thon. Students of High Hopes will participate in a 50-yard dash held in front of the clubhouse at 5:45pm. No matter whether a child crosses the line in a wheelchair, with the aid of a walker or crutches, or on the power of their own two feet, everyone is a winner.

Kasondra Farmer, 2008 Miss Wheelchair Tennessee, will be present to greet golfers at registration and encourage children as they cross the Walk-a-Thon finish line.

Following a recent visit to High Hopes, Farmer, a student at Austin Peay University, was so impressed that she volunteered to be a part of the June 2 fundraiser. Wearing her tiara and banner, Farmer visited each classroom and mesmerized children who believed that a “real princess” had come to visit. Her presence offered encouragement and hope to young students that they could, in spite of any limitation, follow their dreams.

Golf and walk-a-thon sponsors this year include Title Sponsors Butch and Sonia Hoover and De and Jackie Thompson; Birdie Sponsors CAT Financial and Franklin American Mortgage Company; Contest Sponsors Covenant Capital and Andrews Cadillac; Hole Sponsors Brentwood Children’s Clinic and Enterprise Electric, LLC; T-Shirt Sponsors Southern Trophy House, Hylant Group, G3 networks.net, and Lehman Title and Escrow; Lil Nibblers Food Sponsor Weichert Realty, The Andrews Group; and Walk-a-Thon sponsors Dr. Paul L. About High Hopes, Inc.
High Hopes, Inc. is a non-profit inclusive preschool and pediatric therapy clinic that loves, nurtures, and educates children from infancy through Pre-K with and without special needs in inclusive classrooms.  A team of experienced teachers and pediatric therapists support the individual needs of each child in the classroom, and the outpatient therapy clinic meets the therapeutic challenges of infants to adolescents in the community.

High Hopes Inc. is the only non-profit inclusive preschool in Middle Tennessee with a preschool and therapy clinic under one roof. High Hopes is truly unique in the way that children with and without special needs such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and other developmental delays play, learn, and grow together every day. The 6,000 square foot outpatient pediatric therapy clinic is one of the few non-profit clinics in Middle Tennessee that provides five different therapies in one location: occupational, speech, physical, feeding and listening therapies. The colorful and child-friendly space serves as a background for therapies and treatments. The imaginative environment (including a jungle-themed sensory gym, underwater-themed multipurpose gym, and city street-themed strength training gym) is an ideal backdrop for therapy in which play is key. High Hopes offers quality therapy services with highly experienced therapists right here in Williamson County.
