Yeoman’s in the Fork, Rare Book and Document Gallery in historic Leiper’s Fork, located at 4216 Old Hillsboro Road, Franklin, will be hosting a FREE “Collecting Books from the 1980’s”

When you think of the 1980’s, what pops in your head?  I know that we think of Indiana Jones, Stephen King and the Titanic.  Your list might include the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Challenger explosion or the fallout from the Vietnam War and the erection of the Vietnam Memorial in DC.  The 1980’s represent a pivotal time in the life of America when book and film advertising reached amazing heights undreamed of in prior years.

With crossover marketing and a melee of pop-culture icons, we sailed through the decade of decadence leaving behind a trail of crumbs that has no end in sight.  Can you honestly say that you do not see an image from and/or a DVD case of Back to Future at least once a month somewhere? What sort of affect is all of this advertising and commercialization going to have on the value of books from America’s greatest decade since the 1770’s? Is anything on paper (besides the cash of course) from the 1980’s worth collecting?

Yeoman’s is going on the record with a few of our tips for collecting the 80’s.  Not trying to get too heavy, but some of this material might hit prices that are out of this world in the future!  The event will be hosted by nationally recognized rare book and document expert Mike Cotter.  Mike brings over a decade of experience in the rare book and document industry and has been featured on several TV spots including several appearances on the Discovery Channel over the years.

Space is limited. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Yeoman’s in the Fork by phone at 615-983-6460, or by email at info@yeomansinthefork.com. You can also visit them online at www.yeomansinthefork.com
