Franklin Tomorrow Shrimp Boil

On Saturday, July 9, Franklin Tomorrow will host the fifth annual Shrimp Boil to honor exemplary volunteers in The Shed at The Factory at Franklin, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The event will feature a low-country shrimp boil prepared by Daily Dish Catering. Serving as platinum level sponsors are Bob Parks Realty and Cadence Bank.

The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Anne T. Rutherford Exemplary Community Volunteer Award, as well as several other awards honoring volunteers. Nominations were solicited from the community and charitable organizations for the nominees and then a committee selected a list of finalists. The Franklin Tomorrow Board of Directors then voted in ablind ballot to select the award recipients.

“The Shrimp Boil is a night of casual fun, but with a valuable and important meaning because it honors the true spirit of Franklin and Williamson County, the people with a heart for true service,” said Dan Ryan, Franklin Tomorrow Board President. “This event brings a lot of people from various backgrounds together and we thank our presenting sponsor, DickinsonWright PLLC and all of our sponsors for their generous support.”

In 2007, Franklin Tomorrow established the Anne T. Rutherford Exemplary Community Volunteer Award to honor the decades of service and tremendous impact that Rutherford has had in Franklin. In the followingyears, the awards grew to include Volunteer Spirit Awards and the Youth Initiative Award. Last year, the inaugural Ned Lea Volunteer Contribution Award was created to posthumously honor an exemplary volunteer. Each award carries a cash prize for the recipient’s organization of choice.

The awards are underwritten by Susan and Walt Gorman. Additional sponsors for the event are Buerger, Moseley & Carson; Five Points Roofing, Clinard Engineering Associates and Williamson Herald. State Rep. Charles Sargent, Rep. Glen Casada and Sen. Jack Johnson also underwrite the event, which also draws support from Red Dog Wine & Spirits and Lipman Brothers.

Tickets are $50 per person, $35 for children 12 and under, and may be purchased online at www.franklintomorrow.org/shrimp-boil. The event is usually a sell-out, so purchase tickets early.
