Franklin Theatrical Fellowship to Stage Very First Production of Hit Play “Goodnight, Oscar” Since Its Tony-Award Winning Broadway Run

Local theatre-makers Franklin Theatrical Fellowship have secured the rights to “Goodnight, Oscar” – the 2023 Tony-winning, smash hit play. FTF is honored to be the first company in the nation to produce the hit play since its Broadway run. “Goodnight, Oscar” is based on true events from a 1958 “Tonight Show” appearance by the brilliant but troubled pianist turned actor Oscar Levant. This riveting story combines both humor and heartbreak, while exploring the fine line between genius and insanity. It also questions the ever-dwindling distinction between exploitation and entertainment, and the high cost of baring one’s soul for public consumption. “Goodnight, Oscar” is presented courtesy of licensing through Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

The production will run 5 performances January 16-19, 2025 at the Franklin Special School District Performing Arts Center near downtown Franklin.

FTF’s inaugural production of Twelve Angry Jurors last summer was met with high praise from audiences and critics alike. “Audiences have been asking what’s next for FTF, and we are thrilled to finally be able to make this announcement. It’s great to have such an acclaimed title with which to follow up our work on Twelve Angry Jurors. We are certain audiences will be moved and entertained by this piece as well. ” says Artistic Director Melanie Sutton.

Casting and Creative Team announcements are coming soon. Auditions for “Goodnight, Oscar” are October 23-25th in Franklin, TN. More information can be found on FTF’s website at www.ftfshows.org. Tickets go on sale in early November.
