Franklin student selected to perform in Lipscomb’s Chamber Singers
Herald Reports
Elizabeth Schenck, of Franklin, has been selected to perform in the Lipscomb University Chamber Singers for the 2015-16 season.
Schenck, a Franklin High School graduate, sings with the 15-member choral group. The next performance of the Lipscomb University Chamber Singers will be held on Nov. 18 at 5 p.m. at Lipscomb University in Ward Hall.
Conducted by Gary P. Wilson, the Chamber Singers is an ensemble made up of upper level music majors and music minors that specializes in choral music written specifically for a small group, usually one or two singers per vocal part.
Each fall, the group normally performs unaccompanied madrigals from the 16th and 17th centuries. In the spring, their performances are devoted to various genres of choral music. Recent performances have included a concert of twentieth century music, Eric Whitacre’s “Five Hebrew Love Songs” with piano and violin, and Johannes Brahms’ Neue Liebeslieder Walzer with piano.
Chamber Singers are among several ensembles available to students at Lipscomb, including A Capella Singers, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensemble. Lipscomb’s School of Music is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
