Romance and comic complications are in the air in this intimate and touching musical, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and a book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret). Set in a 1930s European parfumerie, it’s hate at first sight for shop clerks Amalia and Georg, who butt heads constantly and disagree on everything. Little do they know, however, that they are falling in love through letters as anonymous, romantic pen pals known only to each other as “Dear Friend.” Adapted from the play Parfumerie by Mikos Lazlo, which also inspired the beloved films The Shop Around the Corner, In the Good Old Summertime, and You’ve Got Mail. She Loves Me is a warm, charming and romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance and sophistication … and is as sweet as vanilla ice cream.
