Meet the Astronomer Talk + Telescope Viewing – Vanderbilt University Dyer Observatory, Brentwood – May 23, 2024

The series: An astronomer or scientist discusses a topic of current interest. The talks are geared to the general adult public and typically feature graphics and videos or demonstrations.

Tonight’s presenter: Vanderbilt’s Erika Grundstrom.

Topic: Amazing Moons!

Throughout much of human history, there was only one moon. Now we know of at least 600 (if we’re counting dwarf planet and asteroid moons). We’ll look at some of the most fascinating worlds in the Solar System, especially ones we could consider “ocean worlds,” and investigate how we know what we know. Maybe we’ll touch on some famous fictional moons!

Telescope viewings follow when weather permits.

LIVESTREAM the talk for free: https://dyer.vanderbilt.edu/

A PROMO CODE is available for Vanderbilt students for free tickets. Please email the organizer from your vanderbilt.edu email to get the active code. Others may register without the code.

Tickets for Meet the Astronomer often sell out quickly, so please plan accordingly.
